Australian Dollar Strengthens briefly following Glenn Stevens’ Speech (Tom Holian)

GBPAUD exchange rates have fallen overnight following the news from the speech given by RBA governor Glenn Stevens last night.

The speech focused on providing support to the mining economy with infrastructure projects which has helped the AUD to recover but we still expect an interest rate cut later this year.

There is little to come out from Australia over the next few days so all eyes will be on what happens with inflation data in the UK and the US which comes out on Tuesday.

With the Federal Reserve in the US potentially looking at raising interest rates in the future the inflation data could have a big influence on their decision as and when to change interest rates which is likely to impact GBPAUD exchange rates.
